How Do Push-In Connectors Work?

When carrying out an electrical installation, we want a system that is reliable! That we can keep both our equipment and installation process safe.
Today we are going to talk about a type of connector that gives us both security and reliability of a system: Push-in connectors! They are easy, practical and totally safe.

Push-in Connectors: Why to Choose

Push-in connection technology was developed for the direct connection of conductors. Rigid conductors or conductors equipped with tubular terminals are contacted directly and without tool at the conductor connection point. Here, the special contour of the connection spring push-in allows for very easy fitting. Reduced fitting forces make the cabling considerably easy.

The special contact spring of the push-in connection, produced in steel for high quality, is automatically opened when inserting the conductor and guarantees the pressure force necessary against the current bar. The high contact pressure and the tin layer on the spring-loaded housing or on the busbar ensure a reliable electrical connection. In case of tractive effort, the pulling force is increased by the spring lifting and locking in the box. In this way, maximum contact and conductor extraction forces are guaranteed, as well as cabling that is safe against vibrations and impermeable to gases.

Spring opening, whether to loosen conductors or connect flexible conductors without terminal tubular, it is with the trigger, easily and without direct contact with parts energy conductors.

Pre-Treated Conductor or Push-in Connectors?

The use of pre-treated conductors, with a tubular terminal or other measures of junction protection is only useful if it’s required by regulations concerning equipment or if it is necessary to repeatedly connect and disconnect the conductor. As over time, untreated conductor ends tend to untwist.

With push-in connection technology, you contact conductors between 0.25 and 25 mm² so simple, straightforward and without tools. The special spring contact allows for easy fitting and convinces with a high contact quality. When cabling small conductors and flexible from 0.14 mm², it is first necessary to pull the trigger, before the conductor is introduced into the pressing compartment. To remove the conductor just press the trigger. Meanwhile, the conductor can be easily pulled out of the post.

Thanks to the push-in connection, you can implement triggers without any drawbacks in the volume of construction. So this is more common and supports the opening of the spring if the conductor does not have sufficient bending strength. In addition, the color orange (usually for unlocking) increases recognition. Push-in connection is also suitable for compact terminal blocks.

With all these advantages, it is inevitable not to be attractive when planning your electric project, whatever it may be, as it can be used in almost all types of segment that involves energy. But remembering, no matter how easy handling is, always remember to work with safety standards, using personal protective equipment and with qualified professionals to work in the electric energy sector.
