What is Coax Connector and How to Install it

Coaxial cable connectors are used to connect cables to other devices and are specifically designed to maintain cable shielding. Male connectors have a metal protruding pin in the center, while female connectors have a receptacle to hold that pin.

Coaxial cables are used as transmission lines for radio frequency, video and data signals. They have traditionally been used as power lines to connect radio transmitters and receivers with antennas, internet connections, digital audio and cable television signals.

They are the specialized connectors available in electrical appliances to connect and transmit signals. If you want to set up the gadgets like a TV on a DIY basis, then you’ll have to learn the exact procedure for installing the coax connector because you might get the cables without these connectors.

PROCESS OF INSTALLING COAX CONNECTOR:

Strip the wire (about half an inch). You can use the wire stripper or cutter for this purpose. It will reveal the wire mesh.
By using pliers and fingers, peel the wire mesh down.
Now cut the other layer of insulation. Make sure not to apply excessive pressure at this stage as it can damage the copper wire inside.
Ensure that none of the parts of the mesh connector touches the wire as it is a reason for the signal blockages and interruptions.
Slide the crimp ring over the wire.
Now push the wire over the connector so it enters the hole in the center. Make sure you see the wire from the other end.
Crimp theconnector with the wire using the crimping tool so that the connector remains fixed to the wire.
After crimping, if you see any mesh coming out of the cable, trim it using the pliers, and your connection is ready.
