How to Use CAT6 Connector and What it Is
Previously used specifically in the data centers, now the category 6 wires are being used in the LANs connections, making it highly likely that you might have to connect these wires someday.
Just like the other connections, cat 6 connection would not be difficult with the availability of the variations in connectors. Below is all the information you might require to establish your cat 6 connections.
WHAT IS A CAT 6 CABLE CONNECTOR?
Twisted Ethernet cables preceding the Cat 5 cables are the new generation of cables. They allow faster speed, low latency, & higher performance and are categorized as the cat 6 cables. Connectors helping the formation of cat 6 cable connections are known as the cat 6 cable connectors.
It has the same four pairs of twisted copper cables, but with an even stronger twist than CAT5e, plus isolation between the twisted pairs. This allows for a significant decrease in susceptibility to interference between peers and outsiders.
In addition, CAT6 operates at a frequency of 250 MHz and can achieve a bandwidth of 1 Gb/s at 100 meters away or 10 Gb/s at a distance of up to 55 meters.
WIRING OF A CAT 6 CABLE CONNECTOR:
Cat 6 cable connectors are easily available. Even the connection process is not too complex, so you can follow the steps below to manage it easily.
Step 1: Get the desired length of cable required for forming the connection. You will need a lesser wire for a home connection in comparison to the office one, so make estimates accordingly.
Step 2: Gather RJ45 connectors, crimping tools, and wires from the computer supply shop.
Step 3: Strip the outer wire coating to reveal the inner wires (4 pairs); stripping 1 inch would be appropriate. The inner wires will be twisted, so untwist them as much as possible. Arrange them in this color order: green and white, green, orange and white, blue, blue and white, orange, brown and white, brown.
Step 4: To reveal the metallic head of all the inside wires, you can cut the wires perfectly. At least ½ inch from the end of the outer covering must still be left.
Step 5: Insert the wires into the connector. You might need to use a bit of force for the proper setup of connections. But don’t use too much of it.
Step 6: Use the crimping tool to crimp the plastic head of the connector.
Step 7: Check if the connection has been established.
