How Eyelets Are Used

The installation process for ring terminals is actually much easier than most people think.

The first thing you will need, of course, is the right tools set. Depending on the form of crimp connectors you will be using, you could need tools to help prepare the wires. Once that is done, simply slide the wire into the body of the terminal, ensuring that the insulation is able to butt up to the barrel of the terminal.

You will also need to insert the terminal into the right crimp nest. Most manufacturers add some colored dots to match the insulation on the ring terminal itself, so you should be able to identify those.

From there, close the tool with the terminal barrel centered. Finally, inspect the crimp and look for any clean indentations to ensure the proper fit of the entire terminal. You will now need to activate the hat shrink ring terminal with the right tools.

Remember to complete the tug test too. With a simple tug, you can tell if the crimp will hold its own or needs a little tightening.
