Anywhere ferrous: a bonnet, a wing, a chassis rail, a jack stand, a toolbox lid, a door frame, a radiator, a metal workbench. If a magnet sticks to it, the mount sticks to it.

The magnetic core is what the whole product is – it is built to take the light and stay put while you work underneath it. Give it a clean flat patch of steel and it will not wander.

Then a magnet will not hold, and we would rather say so. Aluminium bonnets, plastic engine covers and fibreglass panels are not magnetic. Look for a bracket, a hinge, a chassis rail or a strut nearby – there is almost always steel within reach.
